Our business began out of a search for better outerwear for active winter sports. When we could not find what we wanted, we designed and made our own clothing. Then we tested it on the trails running our dogsled touring business in the Lake Superior region near Bayfield, Wisconsin. Customers and friends started asking where we got our great looking clothing! A business was born.

Since 1997 we have designed, tested and redesigned all of our outdoor clothing so that each piece of outerwear is the warmest, most comfortable, best looking, and as functional as can be. They are all locally handmade with the highest quality materials. We use durable, warm Woolrich Wool on the outside and soft comfortable Malden Mills 300 weight polar on the inside. Martexing Original Waxed fabric (waxed canvas like Shackleton) is used for our Nor'easter shells.

When You Want It The Way You Want It, Sometimes You Just Have To Make It Yourself.

John is absurdly dedicated to functional design. Mary's obsession with style and quality assures that it is all done in good taste. Together we make up the team that produces Wolfsong Wear, the best performing and best looking garments in the outerwear industry. If you want outerwear worth owning and wearing for many years, there is no substitute for quality workmanship and American made materials. That's why we will continue to use only the best materials and keep our production local. And as always, we fully guarantee everything we make.

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.

Note: Imported products are required by law to country of origin on their label and products partially Made In USA do not. To answer this question completely reviewing our Labeling Tips 1, 2 & 3. These tips are accessible from scrolling to the bottom of our home page clicking Browse All Tips button.
