Chicago Metallic’s first products were for the commercial and food service industries. One early innovation was the Checkerboard Cake Set, which was introduced in 1924. Another was a pie pan design for the Connecticut-based Frisbee Pie Company, an invention that found other uses by area students and evolved into the popular toy when discovered by a California entrepreneur.
In 1982 Chicago Metallic leveraged its experience in the commercial and food service industries when it introduced a line of metal bakeware for serious home bakers - a pioneering strategy that’s been imitated by countless competitors. Early products were crafted using a wide range of innovative processes and materials including the same tinned steel used by professional bakers, coil-coated nonstick materials, and anodized aluminum.
