The Tip is 'Ask Before You Buy' I went to a department store for a pair of dress shoes recently. The clerk helped me with three different pairs that I tried on. 'The Big Secret' was on the forefront of my mind so I asked, "Are these shoes imports?" The salesman responded that they were in fact imported. "Do you have any Made In America shoes like these?" I asked. To my surprise he said, "We have a whole line of Made In USA shoes." I was able to purchase the same color and style with the Made In USA label. These Made in America shoes were less expensive, came with a better warranty and were more comfortable. It's amazing how often this simple Made in US question yields unexpected and often times pleasant results. I now ask this question regularly, whereas before I would not have thought to ask for a Made in America alternative. More often than not, I can find a Made in America product of higher quality and at the same, or slightly higher price. Asking the question is so simple and can make a positive impact, in both the short and long term. Try it sometime. If you are like me, you may be surprised with how many Made in US products are out there. You will love it when you realize you are making a difference that benefits many. With your help America will be ours again and that is a good thing. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by The American Jacket Company The American Jacket Company is a premium sportswear line inspired by America's tradition of political participation. The American Jacket Company is proudly designed and manufactured in the United States. To wear our clothes and to support our company is to support the American Dream. With each purchase of our highest-quality American Jacket Company items, you are supporting American jobs, the U.S. manufacturing industry, and a resurgence in Made-in-America consumer pride. We believe that supporting U.S. workers and companies isn't a political value ? it's an American one. Currently, 98 percent of the clothing purchased in this country is imported. That's millions of jobs and billions of dollars that could be contributing to the U.S. economy. The good news is that small changes to our spending habits can make a big impact. It's estimated that if every American spent just $64 on American-made products this holiday season, we could create 200,000 new American jobs. With the launch of The American Jacket Company collection, we're calling on consumers to be a force for change. We're serious about supporting American jobs ? but we're having a bit of fun with partisan politics here too. Each American Jacket company product can discretely bear the political logo of your choice, so you can proudly wear all your politics right on your sleeve! Here is my story? In the fall of 1947, my parents Gladys and Theodore Sadaka opened their first factory in New York City's garment district. My sister and I grew up in and around the factory and formally joined the business in the early 1970s. Back then, we operated with 200 employees, but due to the avalanche of imports in recent decades, we've faced many difficulties and have today downsized the business to just over 50 employees. Our American Jacket Company collection will maintain and create new American jobs, but also engage politicians in a discussion about the importance of a strong domestic manufacturing industry. I believe that the movement to bring clothing manufacturing back to the U.S. is bigger than just the American Jacket Company. It's going to take consumer awareness and political will. That's why we're offering products that bear the symbols of each political party: we're challenging lawmakers to wear their politics on their sleeve and support this essential American value of home-grown, quality jobs for hard-working Americans. Republican or Democrat, we can all agree on the importance of buying American. |
