The Tip is 'Ask manufacturers' Some times I have run across an advertisement that implied a product was Made in USA but the product did not have the Made in USA label. Before I buy or put the product on my Made in USA list, I email the manufacturer and ask if their product is Made in USA. If they say yes I ask why their product is not labeled that way. Seldom will they tell me why but many times they will tell me every component that is Made in the USA and those that are not. I then make my decision about buying their product and put it on my list if they convince me. In that little town, there is a hosiery mill called Crescent. And there, my friends, you will find the home of the World's Softest? Sock. We are an American company. We were founded in Niota, Tennessee over 100 years ago. We've built, expanded, re-built after a fire, expanded even more, and here we stay. We watch kids play baseball across the road, we listen to the trains rumble down the tracks, and we've been known to drag out the grills and cook up some burgers in the summer. We are Real people. In fact, we're just like you. We don't hire outside professionals to face our company ? we ARE the professionals and we're all about the feet. We make the socks that you wear to work, to watch your kid's softball game, Sunday dinner with the family, night classes, road trips?those everyday moments in real life that don't make it into commercials. We make our socks so that whether you're hard at work or hard at play, your feet only feel incredible softness. American strong - World's softest. From all of us at Crescent Sock Company - Thank you! * Our Classic and Sensitive Collections are made right here in Niota, Tennessee. Our Spa and Everyday Collections are outsourced in Korea due to the limited capacity of our facility. We stand behind the quality of all our products, even though the Spa & Everyday socks are not made at our facility we ensure they are quality product and you are still supporting our American Company! We are a Family company. Some of our employees are following in the footsteps of their parents, grandparents, even great-grandparents. We're a close-knit bunch, so we fuss, cry, laugh, and ? some say most importantly - eat together. Of course, we work in time to knit quality socks, creating happy feet around the world. We run our knitting machines at least 5 days a week, 24 hours a day, but we never work on Sunday.* Time with our family is very important and we want our employees to have time to rest. In 1995, Wound Up? unveiled an innovative composite road fork that set a number of precedents in the world of bicycle components. Wound Up? was the first manufacturer to introduce a patented composite steer tube and the first manufacturer to offer a production composite fork that weighed less than a pound. Our no compromise ride quality combined lateral leg stiffness with carbon's unique dampening properties, yet another first. It was not surprising that our forks consistently outperformed those of our competitors in rigorous fatigue and static load tests. There was and still is nothing else on the market quite like Wound Up?. Even today, the same could be said of Wound Up? forks. We continue to make refinements and build relationships. Working with both framebuilders and other OEMs, we continually push our product development towards higher performance and uncompromising safety standards. We also strive to build relationships with riders, working with some of the world's best in their respective sports. And we remain committed to building and growing these alliances so that we continue to offer innovative cycling components to competitive racers and demanding recreational cyclists. |
