The Tip is 'Where They're Proud' I recently saw an ad in our local newspaper for a big box home improvement store. Their newspaper ad had USA made products and American flags all over it. Several weeks later, I checked the ad again and sure enough they were still advertising their American made products. It was obvious they are proud to carry products Made in America. Their competitors made no mention of things Made in America. I have been to this store and asked what products are made in the USA? A clerk told me they primarily carry imports. Obviously they are not proud. I now realize you can buy many Made in the USA building supplies, including tools Made in USA and appliances Made in USA., in stores that are proud to carry brands Made in the USA. Here is another example of a store proudly carrying products Made in the USA. I was shopping for men's shoes in a local department store when I tried on three different pairs of shoes. I couldn't decide which pair I wanted so I went out on a limb and asked the clerk, "Are these shoes imports?" The salesman said "yes they are" so I asked, "Do you have any Made in America shoes like these?". To my surprise he said, with GREAT PRIDE, "yes sir, we have a whole line of Made In USA shoes". He brought me the same color and style with the Made in USA label. These Made in America shoes were less expensive, came with a better warranty, and were more comfortable. Looking for companies that are PROUD is simple and can have a great impact on our country. I encourage you to try this some time- just ask. You will love it when you realize you are making a difference that all of us will benefit from. With your help America will be ours again and that is a good thing. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Everest Luxury Linens My name is Julie Everson. My husband and I are the founders and owners of Everest Luxury Linens and the creators of NeatSheets. We thought you might like to know a little about us and the unlikely story of how we wound up in the bedding business. This truly is a classic example of how anyone can pursue the American dream and start a business of their own. Thirty years ago, shortly after we were married, I bought our first set of sheets. We were college students at the time and money was tight, so I bought the least expensive sheets I could find. Over the coming weeks and months, we came to realize that we got what we paid for! The sheets fit poorly, the elastic on the fitted sheet was flimsy and lost its stretch within a short time, allowing it to pull off the corners in the middle of the night only to find our faces on the mattress, the top sheet was too small to stay tucked in at the foot or sides of the bed, etc., etc. Needless to say, we looked forward to the time when we could afford nicer bedding! Well, to make a long story short, we eventually purchased more expensive bedding, including some expensive designer sheets, and of course we had high expectations. Unfortunately, more expensive rarely meant better, so we remained disappointed with the general lack of quality and consistency in the fabric, construction and wear of our sheets. Then, one evening we were in bed watching TV and my husband said Why doesn't someone make a fitted sheet with some pockets on the sides where we could put our remote control? So the next day, using the fabric from an extra pillowcase, I sewed some pockets on our sheets. They worked great and we quickly became accustomed to this added convenience in our home. Little did I know this experiment would be a prototype and the beginnings of a new business in our future. As the years passed and we refined and patented our invention, we also noticed in our conversations with family and friends that there seemed to be universally widespread dissatisfaction with the quality of their sheets. Poor quality, poor fit, too expensive, too wrinkly, can't find (or read) the size label, pops off the mattress corners at night, the fabric pills up are just a few of the things we frequently heard. The more we talked about it, the more we realized that all of these problems could be fixed with a little innovation, effort and attention to detail. We became convinced that we could build a better mousetrap and design an exceptional line of bedding that would solve all of these problems. So, after many years of research, time and energy, and with the encouragement of our family and friends, we are pleased and excited to introduce Everest Luxury Linens. Our commitment is to become a leader in the home textiles industry by delivering high quality, innovative products to the market, and by meeting or exceeding our customer's expectations with respect to price, quality, selection and service. We invite you to give our products a try and tell us what you think. We hope to be your source of quality bedding products for many years to come. Julie Everson |
