The Tip is 'Ask manufacturers'

Some times I have run across an advertisement that implied a product was Made in USA but the product did not have the Made in USA label. Before I buy or put the product on my Made in USA list, I email the manufacturer and ask if their product is Made in USA. If they say yes I ask why their product is not labeled that way. Seldom will they tell me why but many times they will tell me every component that is Made in the USA and those that are not. I then make my decision about buying their product and put it on my list if they convince me.

Douglas Metal Specialties was first incorporated as C&R Metal Specialties in Bloomington, Minnesota in 1975. In 1983, it was purchased by its prior owners with a continued commitment to service and continuous improvement, before they were buzz words. We are pleased to share some notable milestones in our development.

1991 the company purchased its own building of 13,000 square feet and renamed the companies to Douglas Metal Specialties, Inc. and Douglas Metal Spinning, Inc.
1998, the Douglas Metals companies expanded next door, acquiring an additional 4500 square feet.
2004, completed an expansion, and also added several new pieces of equipment, including our new robotic welder that was installed in October.
2005, Douglas Metals has over 27,000 square feet of manufacturing space to serve our customers.
2006, Douglas Metal Specialties and Douglas Metal Spinning is purchased by the current owners and becomes a Woman owned business, re-named Douglas Metals, Inc.
