The Tip is 'Where They're Proud' I recently saw an ad in our local newspaper for a big box home improvement store. Their newspaper ad had USA made products and American flags all over it. Several weeks later, I checked the ad again and sure enough they were still advertising their American made products. It was obvious they are proud to carry products Made in America. Their competitors made no mention of things Made in America. I have been to this store and asked what products are made in the USA? A clerk told me they primarily carry imports. Obviously they are not proud. I now realize you can buy many Made in the USA building supplies, including tools Made in USA and appliances Made in USA., in stores that are proud to carry brands Made in the USA. Here is another example of a store proudly carrying products Made in the USA. I was shopping for men's shoes in a local department store when I tried on three different pairs of shoes. I couldn't decide which pair I wanted so I went out on a limb and asked the clerk, "Are these shoes imports?" The salesman said "yes they are" so I asked, "Do you have any Made in America shoes like these?". To my surprise he said, with GREAT PRIDE, "yes sir, we have a whole line of Made In USA shoes". He brought me the same color and style with the Made in USA label. These Made in America shoes were less expensive, came with a better warranty, and were more comfortable. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Dapa Products, Inc. DAPA Products was formed with the idea of creating a small family-owned business. For years its original founders had been involved in many areas of management and distribution. Competition on plastics products had become very strong and it seemed that the only way to remain successful was to become the manufacturer rather than the distributor. DAPA was started with one extrusion line running a few hours a day, one production/warehouse employee and one of the original founders working everything in the office. At that time all products were manufactured solely for the furniture and upholstery markets with a main focus being on our Foam Welt Cord. Some time later we found that with a few additives we could make the same type products for other industries. This opened a whole new world for us with the door and window industry. Foam Screen Spline became a major focus for the company. Research throughout this market showed that companies were having a real problem with employee retention and workers comp claims related to carpal tunnel syndrome. DAPA's Foam Spline helped to reduce the stress of screening and over the past few years has become the spline of choice for many major manufacturers. Thanks to the support of our many friends and customers, a small beginning has proved to be highly successful. Today DAPA is running several extrusion lines 24 hours a day, 5 days per week. Foam Welt Cord and Foam Screen Spline are still our main products but we now provide many other products for these markets and several other industries. |
