The Tip is 'Where They're Proud' I recently saw an ad in our local newspaper for a big box home improvement store. Their newspaper ad had USA made products and American flags all over it. Several weeks later, I checked the ad again and sure enough they were still advertising their American made products. It was obvious they are proud to carry products Made in America. Their competitors made no mention of things Made in America. I have been to this store and asked what products are made in the USA? A clerk told me they primarily carry imports. Obviously they are not proud. I now realize you can buy many Made in the USA building supplies, including tools Made in USA and appliances Made in USA., in stores that are proud to carry brands Made in the USA. Here is another example of a store proudly carrying products Made in the USA. I was shopping for men's shoes in a local department store when I tried on three different pairs of shoes. I couldn't decide which pair I wanted so I went out on a limb and asked the clerk, "Are these shoes imports?" The salesman said "yes they are" so I asked, "Do you have any Made in America shoes like these?". To my surprise he said, with GREAT PRIDE, "yes sir, we have a whole line of Made In USA shoes". He brought me the same color and style with the Made in USA label. These Made in America shoes were less expensive, came with a better warranty, and were more comfortable. Looking for companies that are PROUD is simple and can have a great impact on our country. I encourage you to try this some time- just ask. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Katies Colonial Lighting Handcrafting Colonial and Country-Style Lighting Since 1983 Katie's Light House has been making high quality colonial reproductions since 1983, when Katie herself began hammering out tin decorations and lanterns in her garage. Today, Katie's Light House employs more than 20 people in the small town of Cridersville, Ohio. Much has changed, but we still make each light by hand. Using lathes, chisels, hammers, and bending tools, we cut, carve and shape each piece to primitive perfection. Our American artisans then paint and distress our products by hand as well, producing some of the most beautiful and convincingly antique finishes available. Meanwhile, our tin products and components undergo a proprietary aging process that gives them the blackened appearance of genuine artifacts. Finally, each product goes through rigorous testing and inspection to bring you the highest quality reproduction light fixtures possible. Since they are made and finished by hand, no two Katie's Light House products are exactly alike. Each piece is unique, brimming with personality and character. It is not only a light fixture but also an heirloom, an investment. Our products are built to stand the tests of time and fashion and passing fancy just like the colonial artifacts we so admire. When you buy one of our lights you are doing so much more than furnishing your own home. You are contributing to American industry and helping to preserve the heritage of this great nation. For all of these reasons, we know you will take as much pride displaying our gorgeous lights in your home as we do in making them. Proud to be an American?
