Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Vermettlifts Vermette Machine Company Inc. was established in 1947. The one and only employee, Howard H Vermette, was owner, product designer and manager. The first product was a power pipe threading machine, used by hardware stores and the plumbing trade. Our first location was in a 20 ft. x 30 ft. garage with a second floor. In 1952 we moved into a 50 ft. x 50 ft. one story building. At that time the business was incorporated. Today after many additions to the building, it now covers 42,000 sq. ft. From the original pipe threading machine manufactured, we changed to a portable electric power drive for the plumbing trade. later, copper tubing and plastic pipe began to replace a large percentage of threaded steel pipe, thus reducing the market for these products. Our present products, since 1962 are hand operated fork lifts for lifting and installation of materials used by heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing and general contractors in commercial and industrial buildings. Howard ran the company until the time of his death in 1984, his wife Floy ran the company until the time of her death in 1999. Today the company is proudly owned and operated by the employees. Sales are in all 50 of the United States and in 53 foreign countries. |
