The Tip is 'Watch What You Eat' While in the grocery store recently I noticed that the apples were from South America. Next to South American apples were a bin of apples labeled Made in USA. I decided to go with the Made in America apples since they were US grown. Always remember the Big Secret- buying more American made products helps put Americans back to work. It will guide you to food you will want to eat that is grown with US labor. If you just take a moment to look and think before you buy, it is likely you will find what you are looking for. Also, be careful because sometimes labels are not what they seem. Some companies use the letters USA to fool you into thinking they are American products. Trust only those products that literally claim their country of origin. Look for labeling like: Product of USA, Made in USA, Grown in USA, or other definitive markings. And last, when you begin the journey of purposely identifying American products keep in mind that it may take a little time but the more you look the easier it becomes. You will start to remember which brands are made in the USA and which aren't. This knowledge makes it easy and will accumulate over time. Some food items are not grown in the USA and you will learn that too. The Big Secret tells us we don't need to purchase everything from USA manufacturers just a little more than we are accustom to. If you can average $200 a month more on domestic purchases than you otherwise would it adds up fast. $2,400 a year is equivalent to 7 MILLION new American jobs. We believe that is a good thing. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Oreck One man's vision: How Oreck made clean easy Founded by David Oreck in 1963, Oreck Corporation began as a manufacturer of upright vacuum cleaners for the U.S. hotel industry. Today the company produces and sells vacuums, steam mops, floor machines, air purifiers and cleaning products for use in both hotels and homes throughout the U.S., Canada and parts of Europe. David Oreck had an obvious yet radical idea: design a lightweight yet powerful vacuum to relieve the drudgery felt by hotel housekeepers using the much heavier models then available to them. The idea proved so successful that today more than 50,000 hotels throughout the world use commercial-grade Oreck vacuums. Naturally, hotel staff wanted to buy these vastly improved vacuum cleaners for their own use at home. And so, David's original idea evolved: Oreck Corporation began selling its unique products to residential consumers as well. Oreck has earned its reputation for making the finest vacuums available. That singular, consumer-satisfying goal continues to drive Oreck: to provide easy-to-use, lightweight, and durable vacuums and other cleaning tools ? each with exceptional power ? for every room in the house. The Oreck Legacy: Still Leading the Way Born near Duluth, Minnesota, David Oreck started his career at RCA following World War II where he helped introduce and market several new products to the American public ? including the washing machine, the microwave oven, and black-and-white and color televisions. He left RCA in 1963 to form Oreck Corporation. I had a good idea, a lot of energy, and no money, says the entrepreneur who nevertheless pushed forward, driven by his belief in Winston Churchill's maxim, Never, never, never give up. David Oreck has had a lifelong interest in aviation, he joined the United States Army Air Forces at the age of 17 and flew combat missions during World War II. Today, David remains active in aviation, maintaining and flying his personal collection of vintage aircraft, while Oreck Corporation focuses on continuing to exceed its customers' expectations, bringing innovation to the marketplace and raising the bar for the homecare industry. What does that mean for the Oreck legacy of excellence? For decades, the Oreck family of consumers has expressed their affinity for the benefits of owning an Oreck, often telling us I have an Oreck? I love my Oreck! We hear you ? and that's why we're committed to making products that make cleaning just a little bit easier for all our customers! The company's principal manufacturing facilities are based in Cookeville, Tenn. |
