The Tip is 'Don't procrastinate' For years I've been buying ink jet cartridges from a big box office supply store. These cartridges were made overseas and labeled with the well-known brand of a large American printer company. One I remembered a local store that advertised quality cartridges. I had traveled by this local store hundreds of times but never stopped. This time I stopped at the local store. To my surprise I discovered that they carried the cartridge I needed and it was a Made in USA cartridge. Made in Chicago, to be precise, and it was half the price of the imported ones I had been buying for years. The quality is exceptional and they last longer too. Who knew? After that experience, I make a point to stop at every store I can. By doing so, I've been finding more and more Made in America products. Occasionally the clerks don't know the country of origin; this can be discouraging but finding the origin information yourself isn't difficult I've come to realize. Believe it not, there are actually a number of computers made in the US including laptops made in the USA. When the label is not visibly displayed I use the other Made in America buying tips to help me find Made in US. If the store doesn't carry what you are looking for, use Made in America Secrets to find it and tell the manager about your experience at their store. If enough people are asking for Made in America products stores will begin to carry them. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Vermont Bowl We are a privately owned company located in Wilmington Vermont. With very few exceptions all the products which you will find on offer in our website are manufactured right here in our own facility. Our craftspeople are both men and women, young and old, with the longest serving having been with the company for over 30 years. We have been producing fine wood products since 1967 when John McLeod first started in a borrowed workshop just months after emigrating from Scotland. John worked for a number of years as an individual craftsman. The business went through all the traditional stages of borrowed workshops, house basements, tiny converted gas stations and property purchases finally followed by five factory extensions and the development of two attached retail stores. No other company produces a range of wooden bowls in production quantities to equal that of The Vermont Bowl Company. Because of our earlier years of individual craftsmanship a tradition of standards was imbued into the company which has translated into a reputation for quality and integrity in company policy and in product which is the envy of the industry. VP Tommy Fox has been with the company for over 30 years. Tommy is a partner in the firm with John and it is with Tommy that the future of the company lies. Tommy and John collaborate in a number of areas such as design and future planning but Tommy has complete responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the company. Come visit our retail stores in Wilmington Vermont and you will find many items, including items for the home & office which are not included on our website. And a fabulous time of year to visit us is during our annual July 4th weekend or Columbus Day weekend Seconds and Overruns Sale. See you there! |
