The Tip is 'Don't procrastinate' For years I've been buying ink jet cartridges from a big box office supply store. These cartridges were made overseas and labeled with the well-known brand of a large American printer company. One I remembered a local store that advertised quality cartridges. I had traveled by this local store hundreds of times but never stopped. This time I stopped at the local store. To my surprise I discovered that they carried the cartridge I needed and it was a Made in USA cartridge. Made in Chicago, to be precise, and it was half the price of the imported ones I had been buying for years. The quality is exceptional and they last longer too. Who knew? After that experience, I make a point to stop at every store I can. By doing so, I've been finding more and more Made in America products. Occasionally the clerks don't know the country of origin; this can be discouraging but finding the origin information yourself isn't difficult I've come to realize. Believe it not, there are actually a number of computers made in the US including laptops made in the USA. When the label is not visibly displayed I use the other Made in America buying tips to help me find Made in US. If the store doesn't carry what you are looking for, use Made in America Secrets to find it and tell the manager about your experience at their store. If enough people are asking for Made in America products stores will begin to carry them. Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Nordic Ware An inspirational American success story, Nordic Ware was founded in 1946 by a determined wife, Dotty, and her resourceful husband Dave, newly back from the second world war. With only $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to create a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was launched from the basement of their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the beginning, Nordic Ware's product line was only a handful of items, all of which were specialty Scandinavian ethnic cookware products?the Rosette iron, Krumkake iron, Platte Panne pan, and the Ebelskiver pan. But times have changed! Undoubtedly, Nordic Ware's most famous item is the Bundt? pan, which can be found in over 65 million households around the world. Despite a lackluster introduction into our line in the early 1950s, the Bundt? pan rose to worldwide fame when it was used to bake a prize-winning cake in a national baking contest, and the rest, as they say, is history. As the pan found its way into the hearts and homes of people everywhere, the Bundt? cake has become the quintessential American dessert--one that's become a tradition for countless gatherings and family celebrations. 68 years later with a good measure of perseverance added, Nordic Ware is still proudly manufacturing its products in Minneapolis. Those original Scandinavian products have been joined by hundreds of other items in Nordic Ware's product offering, ranging from bakeware and cookware to microwave products and grilling accessories. We've grown from 2 employees to over 350, and our products are distributed across the globe. We're proud to say that we're still family-owned and operated, with three generations involved in our business, and each year we add innovative items to our expansive kitchenware line. |
