The Tip is 'Ask Before You Buy'

I went to a department store for a pair of dress shoes recently. The clerk helped me with three different pairs that I tried on.

'The Big Secret' was on the forefront of my mind so I asked, "Are these shoes imports?" The salesman responded that they were in fact imported. "Do you have any Made In America shoes like these?" I asked. To my surprise he said, "We have a whole line of Made In USA shoes." I was able to purchase the same color and style with the Made In USA label. These Made in America shoes were less expensive, came with a better warranty and were more comfortable.

It's amazing how often this simple Made in US question yields unexpected and often times pleasant results. I now ask this question regularly, whereas before I would not have thought to ask for a Made in America alternative. More often than not, I can find a Made in America product of higher quality and at the same, or slightly higher price.

Asking the question is so simple and can make a positive impact, in both the short and long term. Try it sometime. If you are like me, you may be surprised with how many Made in US products are out there. You will love it when you realize you are making a difference that benefits many. With your help America will be ours again and that is a good thing.

Buying Tip Continued - Read more on Made in America Products by Jacob Bromwell

Jacob Bromwell? designs, manufactures, markets, and distributes the highest quality cooking, baking, and food preparation products as well as related accessory items. Established in Cincinnati, Ohio by frontier entrepreneur Jacob Bromwell in 1819, our company proudly holds the distinction of being the oldest housewares manufacturer in the United States. Today, our specialty products retain a rustic touch that our founder acquired on the American frontier, and promise to take you on a fun-filled journey into nostalgia and tradition. Loyal to our American roots, our company is still entirely U.S. based and continues to manufacture all of our products right here in America. It's the way we've done it for nearly 200 years.
DID YOU KNOW? SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT JACOB BROMWELL?

As one of America's early manufacturing pioneers, our company holds many distinctions as unique as our name:

Jacob Bromwell? is the oldest housewares and kitchenwares manufacturer in North America (founded in 1819 and incorporated in 1883 as The Bromwell Brush and Wire Goods Company).
Our company is the oldest manufacturer of tin and stainless steel products in the United States, and the 34th oldest continuously owned and operated company in the United States. In fact, we have been family owned and operated for over 19 decades.
We work with a variety of authentic materials, including steel, stainless steel, tin, aluminum, copper, wood, iron, and leather - all sourced domestically.
In keeping with the authenticity of the brand, our logo is our founder's actual signature, made with his own hand.
With millions of units sold, the All-American Flour Sifter is our most famous and instantly recognizable product, and vintage Bromwell sifters are coveted by kitchen enthusiasts and collectors.
The Original Popcorn Popper, one of the oldest products in our line, was originally sold at a wholesale price of $3.50 for a gross.
Our company patented, manufactured, and marketed some of America's most popular and iconic housewares products, including the All-American Flour Sifter, Wonder Shredders, and Original Popcorn Popper - to name a few. Still today, the designs, manufacturing processes, and materials of these products remain virtually unchanged.
The company's original location was a six-story building in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio located at 181 Walnut Street. At the time, the company occupied all six floors and boasted over 1,000 products in its catalog, many of which won awards.
By the late 1800s, Bromwell operated 7 factories and had upwards of 1,000 employees in multiple states. As the largest business of its kind in the United States, it billed itself as having the largest capacity in the country.
The Bromwell Brush and Wire Goods Company was split in 1923. The fireplace division of the company was purchased by the Gerwe family, who opened a fireplace store in Cincinnati that is still open today called Bromwell's. It is now owned by the McClorey family and has been since 2005. The housewares and manufacturing portion of the company (this company!) was then based out of Michigan City, Indiana and renamed Bromwell Housewares.
In 2010, our brand was completely renovated, which included changing our name from Bromwell Housewares to Jacob Bromwell?. Inspired by our founder's personal story, we developed a rich and authentic brand experience based around the man himself, whose hard-working, inventive, and cheerful character shines through even nearly two centuries later.
Several original pieces of our machinery and equipment are part of a permanent exhibit at The Baltimore Museum of Industry.
All of our products are non-electric and continue to be manufactured in the USA. We have never outsourced our production to low-wage labor countries to reduce costs because we have faith in the creativity and productivity of American workers.
Today, Jacob Bromwell? operates manufacturing facilities in Indiana and Vermont and our products are sold at select specialty retailers throughout North America, Australia, Asia, and Europe.
Our diverse customer base includes homesteaders and environmentalists, hunters, fishers, cabin dwellers, the chronically nostalgic, celebrities, and even Hollywood set designers looking for period-correct pieces.
WE USE THE SAME AUTHENTIC MATERIALS SINCE 1819
All Jacob Bromwell? products are made with authentic materials, such as tin, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper, with the help of elbow grease and some pretty darned old machinery (which works just as well as the day it was built)! By using these materials, Jacob Bromwell? products remain 100% authentic from the day they were created. Sure, there are updated materials that could be used, but America's frontiersmen wouldn't have it any other way, and neither should you!
