Bass & Hays Foundry produced gray iron castings at its Grand Prairie location for many years. We represent only quality American made products, many bearing our trademarks. We are commitmed to Made in USA.

Located in Grand Prairie Texas by the old US Naval Air Base, this was home to the Hays family. The land was purchased in 1924 by our founder, Marvin Hays. He apprenticed at Taylor Foundry in Wichita Falls Texas and was the foreman at Dallas Foundry in Dallas Texas. His son, Jack, apprenticed on a U.S. Navy tender ship in the Mediterranean in the 50's, and later worked at Dallas Foundry as a pattern maker where Don Bass was sales manager. Marvin's part-time home foundry had been operating for many years. In 1958, the three started Bass & Hays and they incorporated in 1966. Marvin's slogan on his business card was If it's cast iron, we make it.

The original foundry's old wooden structure is still in use today as a warehouse and machine shop. The old Hays home is still there, and has been converted into Carl's Commercial Printing. The second foundry building built in 1965 is being used to manufacture American made Galvanized Meter Boxes. Today Bass & Hays has 14 employees, and are thriving local durable goods sales organization proudly representing Made in USA only.

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.

Note: Imported products are required by law to country of origin on their label and products partially Made In USA do not. To answer this question completely reviewing our Labeling Tips 1, 2 & 3. These tips are accessible from scrolling to the bottom of our home page clicking Browse All Tips button.
