We are a family owned and operated business. Our founder, Don Munro moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1959 and established the original Lake Catherine Footwear, which was a division of a New Hampshire based shoe manufacturer. In 1972 Don purchased the Arkansas division and established Munro & Company, Inc. There are 3 of Don's 5 children still in the business today, Bruce, who is CEO, Mollie, who is Executive Vice President, and Christine, who is the Director of the International Division. Don is still actively involved in the business though he also spends a great deal of time working on his many philanthropic interests.

Today, the company operates three Arkansas facilities: Lake Catherine and Clarksville for development and manufacturing, and the Fred Young Center for distribution and warehousing. It also sources some of it's uppers in the Domincan Republic, which are lasted and finished in the Clarksville facility.

We are the exclusive manufacturer of the Munro American line of women's professional comfort footwear. We also import and distribute Jumping-Jacks children's shoes and a line of men's safety-toe work boots.

The Munro American brand represents the premier line of women's footwear in the marketplace that is dedicated to sizes and widths and comfort.

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.

Note: Imported products are required by law to country of origin on their label and products partially Made In USA do not. To answer this question completely reviewing our Labeling Tips 1, 2 & 3. These tips are accessible from scrolling to the bottom of our home page clicking Browse All Tips button.
