The Stoneybrook Story

The Stoneybrook Clock Company was founded in the late 1960's by Grant Bucane. Production began in a basement workshop in a home in North Prairie, Wisconsin. The little family business quickly outgrew its family location and moved into a small industrial park in Dousman, Wisconsin, where it produced clocks until the early 1980's. Owing to a tragedy in the family, the business ceded its operation.

The Stoneybrook Company owed its success to a passion for quality coupled with the knowledge of how to build superb clock cases. Their work exemplified what American craftsmanship is capable of while utilizing only very basic woodworking equipment. During these early years the Stoneybrook Company produced an estimated 40 different wall, mantel and grandfather clock styles as well as custom clocks at the request of its customers.

Today in the same tradition of this fine clock company the new owners, Earl and Gloria Hawkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are attempting to revitalize and recreate the glory of fine American clock making. With that in mind, each Stoneybrook clock that is produced embodies the company's goal of providing one with a timeless treasure that captures the very essence of time and beauty.

Each clock is designed with precision and is made of the finest solid woods here in the U.S. Only the finest timbers are used and machined with grace, elegance and craftsmanship. The result is an heirloom clock that one will cherish for years to come. The design and construction exemplifies the founding spirit of America.

Home designs have changed and so have the taste for clocks in the home. With this in mind the Stoneybrook company has in recent months responded to the demand for a line of contemporary clocks built here in the United States. We have recently developed a fine line of ultra contemporary/modern clocks built primarily from solid aluminium and handcrafted and handbrushed for us by local artisans here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We have also utilized the services of our artistic granddaughter Michelle, who has provided us with some beautiful pieces that she has handpainted and added to our line of contemporary clocks. We are sure that you will be delighted with the fine work done by this 15 year old artist.

Stoneybrook, a clock company that cares enough to build the very BEST.

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.

Note: Imported products are required by law to country of origin on their label and products partially Made In USA do not. To answer this question completely reviewing our Labeling Tips 1, 2 & 3. These tips are accessible from scrolling to the bottom of our home page clicking Browse All Tips button.
