Made in the USA Headbands.

My name is Jessica Ekstrom (you can call me Jess).

During the summer of 2011, I did an internship at a wish-granting organization.

I found that girls loved to wear headbands after losing their hair to chemotherapy. Therefore, during my junior year of college, I founded Headbands of Hope.

For every headband purchased, one is given to a girl with cancer and $1 is donated to a childhood cancer organization of your choice.

Since I launched Headbands of Hope in April 2012, we've donated over 20,000 headbands to girls who deserve them. We've even started a boys line of buffs!

I didn't have a business degree. I didn't know how to manufacture a product. All I had was an idea and the passion behind it. Read more about my journey on my blog or let's chat on your campus.

Let's spread hope in all kids...one headband at a time.

The following is a reply from Headbands of Hope to our question – "Are your products Made in America?"

"Thank you for your interest in Headbands of Hope. The majority of our products are made in the United States. Until just recently, all of our products were made in the United States but because we have teamed up with other companies, some of the materials have been imported and we hand make some of our line from those materials. All of our products are made in Bismarck, North Dakota. I'd be happy to let you know which styles have the materials imported."

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.

Note: Imported products are required by law to country of origin on their label and products partially Made In USA do not. To answer this question completely reviewing our Labeling Tips 1, 2 & 3. These tips are accessible from scrolling to the bottom of our home page clicking Browse All Tips button.
