I have been a professional cook, a chef, a career food slinger, an artiste for 17 years now. I got my start washing dishes and frying taco shells in a Mexican joint in my hometown of Covington, Louisiana. Since then I have learned from amazing people in Kansas City, New Orleans, New York City and the Caribbean. I've worked at New Orleans' legendary Commander's Palace, Charlie Palmer's Aureole, Antonucci and many more. My biggest honor as a Chef has been cooking at the James Beard House. Over the last several years I have worked for Jerry Seinfeld's family here in New York, NY. I have been very lucky in my career and wouldn't change this job for the world!

As my role in kitchens has evolved over the last three decades, I have become increasingly aware that there are very limited resources for chef goods. From clothes and tools to popular information I feel like the industry isn't being fully served with fresh ideas from real people. I created Tilit to be the source for chef goods and community that will strive to serve the cooks on the line, the chefs at the helm and the makers in their home.

I invite you to shower me with praise, only kidding, but honestly share with me and others your feedback. Positive as well as constructive negative criticism is always welcome. It's your fresh ideas and real opinions that will allow Tilit to grow into a great brand for our community.

The following is a reply from Tilit to our question – "Are your products Made in America?"

"You say Made in NYC, but is that just a marketing gimmick? No gimmicks here. ALL of our proprietary clothing is made right in the middle of Manhattan, off 8th avenue in the fashion district. Most of our resale items are also made in the USA." 

How do you know the products you have listed are Made in the USA?
Before including products in our database we review the advertiser’s website and/or contact them to ascertain the origin of their products. Some advertisers sell both Made in USA products and foreign ones. Therefore we highly recommend you review FAQ 2.

We immediately investigate any complaints regarding deceptive Country of Origin claims. If we determine an advertiser's claim is not truthful we will immediately remove the product/s from our database and suspend our relationship with the Company making the claim.

What does Made in USA mean?
There is no law requiring most products to be labeled Made In USA, or have any other disclosure about the amount of U.S. content. However, for job creation purposes (see our Big Secret tab), if you have a choice between an imported product and one with no country of origin on its label, choose the product without a country of origin over the imported one. This is true because the product without the country origin on its label has at least some American labor in its content and the imported one most likely does not.
